The franchisor undertakes to provide the franchisee with its know-how.
This provision is inter alia made through the training of the franchisee relating to the proper understanding and implementation of the know-how.
This training, generally called “initial training”, is mostly made up of two parts:
- theoretical training :
The franchisor trains the franchisee in all aspects of know-how relating to operations, management, business control, software, purchasing, etc.
- practical training
The franchisee is immersed in one or more of franchisor’s points of sale, for practical training.
The average duration of this part of the initial training is 3 weeks before the point of sale opens.
In addition, the franchisor often provides the franchisee with assistance at the opening:
This takes the form of on-site assistance from a network coordinator, before and after the opening.
Once the franchised point of sale is open, the franchisor provides occasional training courses on various topics: know-how updates, new recipes, new collections…
